Osun PDP passes vote of no confidence in Dep. Governor, Adewusi

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ife Federal Constituency in Osun has passed a vote of no confidence in the Deputy Governor, Mr Kola Adewusi, over alleged anti-party activities.

This is contained in a communique signed by the Financial Secretary of the party, Adesoji Adegoke, a former Deputy Speaker, Ropo Oyewale, and 27 other party members, made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Osogbo.

The party also said it had no confidence in the leadership of its former National Secretary and Board member, Prof. Wale Oladipo, for associating with opposition members.

It berated Adewusi and Oladipo for allegedly holding meetings with the House of Representatives member from Ife, Taofeek Ajilesoro, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party also said it had lost confidence in the leadership of the PDP Chairman in Ife East Local Government, Mr Olasunkanmi Makinde.

Responding, Oladipo, in an interview with newsmen, described the members at the meeting as a group of jesters who had no right to engage in such activities.

“They are a group of jesters who can hardly be identified as party members in Ife. I am an Ife man; I cannot be an enemy of another Ife person.

“Our duty, that of the deputy governor and mine, is to bring more people to the fold, not to be fighting them.

“I challenge those who claimed to pass a vote of no confidence in us to address the media and pronounce their decision,” he said.

Similarly, the PDP Chairman in the state, Mr Sunday Bisi, said that all concerned should maintain the status quo in line with the party’s conflict resolution mechanisms.

Bisi, in a statement, directed all members and stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency to immediately suspend further actions capable of escalating the situation.

“The State Chapter of the PDP reiterates its respect and high regard for leaders of the party, particularly His Excellency, Kola Adewumi, the Deputy Governor of the state, and Prof. Wale Oladipo, member of the PDP Board of Trustees.

“They remain critical pillars of our party, and any grievances directed at them must be channeled strictly through the internal conflict resolution mechanisms of the party, not through unilateral pronouncements or public declarations.

“The PDP warns that any action capable of undermining the authority of the party or flouting its rules and procedures will not be tolerated.

“Our party is governed by laws, guidelines, and established processes. Every member is, therefore, expected to conduct themselves accordingly,” it read.
