Otti inaugurates Abia Civil Service Commission, Others

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti on Tuesday inaugurated the Civil Service Commission in the state.

He also inaugurated the Abia State Commission for the Welfare of the Disabled Persons and Abia State House of Assembly Commission.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the governor also swore in the Special Adviser to the governor on Education, Mr Kenechukwu Nwosu, and the Special Adviser on Investment Promotion, Dr Green Amankwe.

Speaking at the occasion at the Government House, Umuahia, Otti charged the members of the different agencies to adopt the principle of fairness in their engagements with citizens.

”You must resist the temptation to be parochial or provincial in the execution of the functions of our respective offices.

“You may have come from one community, but as an official of the Abia State Government, your constituency is the whole of Abia,” he said.

The governor also expressed his determination to fulfill his campaign promises and ensure that available resources were efficiently used to meet governance objectives in very critical areas of need.

He said: “We certainly cannot accomplish everything in one day but we must strive to see that there is something new and meaningful to report each time we face the people, as it is inevitable in a democracy.

“What makes us different is that we are running a government that is 100% accountable to the people of the State and God.”

He said that under his watch, no form of corruption would be tolerated, adding that it would be the fastest way for any government official to be relieved of their duty.

“For clarity, let the warning be given in advance that once we establish any case of self-serving activities that go against the values we subscribe to as a Government.

“We shall be left with no option but to ask you to leave, and perhaps hand you over to the law enforcement agencies for further investigations,” Otti said.

He said that the he was hopeful that the government would witness remarkable institutional improvements as the officials settle down to business.

In their separate responses, a member of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs Ifeoma Agu, and Nwosu thanked the state government for the opportunity to serve the people of Abia.

They pledged to discharge of their duties and align with the rebuilding agenda of Otti’s administration.

The members of the Civil Service Commission included Mrs Patience Orikara, Mr Chinemerem Orji, and Mr Chibuike Alozie.

Similarly, members of Abia State Commission for the Welfare of Disabled Persons included Mr David Anyaele (Chairman), Mr Stanley Onyebuchi, Mr Emenike Amakwe, Mrs Chinenye Ogboso and Mrs Ijeoma Harriet.

The members of Abia House of Assembly Service Commission included Mr Uchechukwu Maduako, Mr Destiny Nwagwu, Mr Chiemela Wagbala, Mr Chijioke Nwachukwu, Mr Grace Ibeh, Dr Steve Ochonma and Mrs Ihuoma Ezechimerem. (NAN)
