PDP Southern Youth Leaders Caucus has demanded for the immediate resignation of Senator Iorchia Ayu as The National Chairman of The People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP youth caucus also insisted that Ayu must quit and the issue of the Chairman of PDP must be addressed before commencement of electioneering campaigns for the 2023 elections.

The group in a statement issued on Wednesday, also vowed to mobilized over 10,000 youths who will storm the PDP secretariat in Abuja on Friday, to demand for Ayu’s resignation.

The statement said: “Our amiable leaders, His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, His Excellency, Gov. Seyi Makinde, His Excellency , Gov Samuel Ortom, His Excellency, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, Chief Bode George, Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, Donald Duke of Cross River, Ibrahim Dakwambo of Gombe, Jonah Jang of Plateau, a former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, Prof Jerry Gana and others have shown courage and spoken truth to power, the youths will not sit back and allow our rights to be stolen again. We have agreed that while Gov. Wike will be addressing a press conference on Friday regarding the high level of injustice in the PDP, over 10000 youth leaders will stage a massive protest at PDP headquarters at Wadata Plaza in Abuja”.

“Our protest is in strong solidarity with our leaders due to the high level of injustice meted on the Southern PDP members by the national leadership of the party”.

“It would be recall that the The PDP became an orphan after losing power in 2015, with the likes of Atiku, Tambuwal and many others abandoning it for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Wike stood in the gap, funded it and ensured that it didn’t go under, before others. This singular act of Gov. Wike must not go unrewarded.

“For it is an antithesis and against the norms and culture of our party that our presidential candidate and our National Chairman will come from one section of the country”.

“Since the coming on board of the Iyorchia Ayu-led National working committee, some of the NWC have been immersed in one scandal or the other to the detriment of PDP”.

“The allegations range from giving tickets to the highest bidders, to subsisting expulsion that may cost PDP exclusion from the 2023 polls, to the hijacking of the ward and local government congress committee (assignment) list, manipulation of national and state delegate list, using non-party members for PDP official assignment and unjustly disqualifying qualified aspirants and clearing aspirants with questionable certificates and loyalty.

“This is inconsistent with section 7, subsection 3 (c) and section 46 subsection 3 of our great party constitution as amended 2017. It’s politically unethical and immoral,” the group said.

“Therefore, we call on the National Chairman to, without any further delay, tender their resignation letters and hand over every party document as provided by our party constitution as amended 2017.”
