The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the appointment of caretaker committees to oversee the affairs of the party in Delta, Enugu, Imo, Rivers and Osun states.
According to a press statement issued by the party, the decision was taken by the NWC acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and in line with the provisions of the PDP Constitution.
> “National Working Committee (NWC) of our Great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), acting on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) of our Constitution (2025 as amended), has approved the appointment of the following party leaders to the Caretaker Committees for Delta, Enugu, Imo, Rivers, and Osun States.”

The PDP explained that the caretaker committees are mandated to manage party affairs in their respective states in accordance with the party’s constitution.
> “The Committees are charged with the responsibility of managing the affairs of the Party in their respective States, as stipulated in Section 21(2)(a-b) of the PDP Constitution.”
The party further stated that the tenure of the committees is temporary.
> “The tenure of these committees shall not exceed 90 days, or until such a time as a new Executive Committee is elected.”
In carrying out their duties, the PDP stressed that committee members must strictly adhere to established legal and constitutional frameworks.
> “In carrying out this assignment, Committee members must be strictly guided by the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).”
