The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction aligned with Nyesom Wike has dismissed reports alleging that the party held a meeting with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claims as misleading and unauthorized.

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the faction said it had not convened any formal or informal meeting with the ADC or its representatives.

The statement stressed that the party had no involvement in any alleged interaction with the ADC.

According to the statement, “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has noted with concern the circulation of misleading reports alleging that it held a meeting with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

It further clarified, “The PDP categorically states that it has not held any meeting, formal or informal with the ADC or any of its representatives.”

The faction maintained that any individuals reportedly involved in such engagements were acting in their personal capacities.

“The PDP firmly states that no such meeting was convened or authorized by the Party. Any persons reported to have participated in such engagements did so purely in their individual capacities and cannot be deemed to represent the PDP in any form,” the statement added.

The faction urged party members and the public to ignore the reports, insisting they do not reflect the official position of the party.

“Accordingly, the Party urges its members, supporters, and the general public to disregard these baseless claims, as they do not reflect the position or activities of the Party.”

Despite the controversy, the PDP faction said preparations for its internal processes were ongoing, particularly regarding party primaries.

“Furthermore, the PDP wishes to inform its members that preparations for the conduct of Party primaries have progressed significantly. Further details regarding timelines and guidelines will be communicated in due course.”

The faction reaffirmed its commitment to internal party development and national leadership.

“The PDP remains focused on its internal processes and its commitment to providing credible leadership and direction for the Nigerian people.”
