Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State have emphasised the need for unity and a single voice ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This call was made at a meeting organised by the Diadem, a technocrats’ group, and the PDP in Ifako/Ijaiye Local Government Area (LGA), on Thursday in Lagos to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.
Dr Dayo Kayode, convener and aviation expert, highlighted the need for members to put aside personal interests, emphasising that differences in politics were normal, but party interest should be supreme.
He also announced plans to register 100,000 organic members across various electoral wards to boost the party’s chances.
Dr Bolaji Akinyemi, keynote speaker, emphasised understanding how to build the nation, citing corruption, bad leadership, and electoral corruption as significant issues.
He advocated for increasing intelligent voters and reverting to the 1963 Republican Constitution.
PDP chairmen, Prince Muftau Oyelekan and Alhaji Isiaka Shodiya, urged Nigerians to give the party a chance in 2027, highlighting PDP’s footprints in Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Kwara, and other states.
Shodiya vowed to replicate the membership drive project in his council area.(NAN)
