PDP mourns Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describes death as ‘indescribable pain’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo, who reportedly collapsed and died earlier today.

According to the party, the news hit the National Working Committee, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, with a shock so heavy that it has left members across the country—particularly in Bayelsa—completely devastated.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP described the late deputy governor as a rare breed in politics, a man who never wavered in his values.

“While alive, Senator Ewhrudjakpo was an honest and consistent politician who believed in and practiced politics with principle,” the statement read. “He was a person of conviction, not convenience; a leader whose life was anchored on belief, integrity and strength of character. He held firmly to these virtues until his final moments.”

The PDP said the loss of Senator Ewhrudjakpo is not just a blow to Bayelsa State but to the entire political family of the party, noting that his legacy of loyalty and integrity will remain unforgettable.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of this hero of political integrity, and we pray that God grants his soul eternal rest,” the statement added.

The party extended its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State, calling the tragedy a painful and irreparable loss.
