The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a decisive step to strengthen its internal structure with the constitution of Caretaker Committees for its Enugu, Delta and Rivers State chapters.
The decision was approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC), in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended).
In a statement issued on Friday by the National Organizing Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan,
, the party said the committees will oversee the affairs of the PDP in the affected states for a period not exceeding 90 days, or until new state executives are elected, as provided under Section 21(2)(a–b) of the party’s constitution.

According to the party, the caretaker committees are mandated to manage party activities in their respective states strictly in accordance with the PDP Constitution (2025, as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
The PDP urged members in the three states to give the committees their full cooperation to ensure stability, unity and a smooth transition to duly elected executives.
