Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Professor Joash Amupitan said that with the almost perfect performances of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation BVAS, voice of FCT Residents will be heard loud in Saturday’s Area Council Election.
Speaking while assessing the situation at some polling Units in Garki, Wuse and some parts of the Abuja City Center., INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan said all the Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems BVAS deployed for the conduct of polls worked perfectly.
He also said that the election was peaceful though the turnout at some locations were very impressive, some polling Units recorded low turn out
He commended the peaceful manner voters conducted themselves saying it is sign of democratic development in the country.
According to him, areas where materials did not arrive on time have been identified and are being sorted out.
He said officials at the FCT Election Monitoring Center are also taking note and efforts were being made to address them..
He maintained that as at the moment, the commission was getting good reports from polling Units across the Six Area Councils.
He commended the professional conduct of security agencies deployed for the exercise saying only those without appropriate accredited tags and those that did not present their tags on time had issues with the security personnel.
“The atmosphere is very calm in all the polling Units.”
He assured that the commission will build on the experience at this FCT Area Council Election for the future polls.
