Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu Join #OCCUPYNASS Protest Against Electoral Changes, Tax Law

Hundreds of protesters under the hashtag #OCCUPYNASS have besieged the main entrance of the National assembly.

Chanting solidarity songs, the protesters expressed displeasure over alleged tinkering with some provisions of the electoral act amendment bill and implementation of the new tax law.

They carried placards with inscriptions such as: “Akpabio don’t destroy our democracy,” “Say no to electoral fraud,” “Akpabio don’t dare the masses,” “stop betrayal of the ballot,” “The Senate must prioritise citizens over politics,” “The conference committee must protest the integrity of Nigeria’s electronic.”

Sighted among the protesters is the former Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi.

Aside from Mr Obi, other human rights activists, including Aisha Yesufu, convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, and several others, were present at the protest

The protesters were prevented from gaining access to the National assembly complex by security personnel.
