Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on Tuesday took his campaign for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidates to the streets of Abuja, engaging residents across several area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Obi disclosed this in a post on his official X handle, where he said the early-morning walk was aimed at strengthening grassroots connection and reinforcing his belief in people-centred leadership.
“Engaging directly with the Grassroots. Today, at 6:30 a.m., I set out from our office in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) with a clear mission: to engage directly with the grassroots and drive home our vision of leadership that genuinely serves the people.”
His first stop was Abaji Area Council, where he campaigned alongside Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim, the ADC chairmanship candidate for the council. Obi said he spent one hour walking through the community, interacting with residents and listening to their concerns.
“I took a decisive one-hour walk through the community, listening intently to their voices, understanding their aspirations, and reinforcing my conviction that true leadership must always be accessible, grounded in the realities of the people it serves.”
From Abaji, Obi moved to Kwali Area Council, where he threw his support behind Hon. Jeremiah Badoji, the ADC chairmanship candidate, again opting for a walking campaign to connect directly with the people.
“Once again, I dedicated a full hour to walking among the people. Leadership is not a distant concept; it is forged through presence, endurance, and authentic connection.”
The former Anambra State governor also visited Zuba, where he canvassed support for Pharmacist Iko Danjuma, the ADC chairmanship candidate for Gwagwalada Area Council, before proceeding to Deidei Market to engage traders and residents while advocating for Dr. Moses Paul, the ADC chairmanship candidate for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Obi said the interactions reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance that touches every segment of society.
“I reaffirmed my commitment to inclusive development that permeates every sector of society.”
