The community of Auchi is in mourning following the tragic death of Ruth Otabor, sister of reality TV star Phyna, who passed away on Sunday after being struck by a Dangote truck in a devastating road accident.
The incident, which occurred on the 15th of August , 2025 in Auchi, Edo State, has left family, friends, and fans grieving the loss of a vibrant young woman.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place on a busy stretch of road in Auchi when the truck, owned by the Dangote Group, collided with Ruth, causing severe injuries. Despite immediate medical attention and efforts to save her life, Ruth succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, plunging her family and community into sorrow.
The Dangote Group released a statement expressing their grief and outlining their response to the tragedy. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who was injured in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State,” the statement read. “On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.”
