The operatives of Nigeria Police in Delta State Police Command have arrested 100 gay suspects at a gay wedding ceremony in a hotel in the state.
The command made the disclosure in a post on its X, formerly known as Twitter, account on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
Sharing the pictures of the suspects, the police said the suspects would be paraded shortly and arraign in court.
It said: “Delta State Command has arrested over hundred gay suspects in a hotel carrying out a gay wedding ceremony.
“We will be going live shortly on Facebook to parade the said suspects.”
An Act of National Assembly signed by
former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 prohibited gay relationships and same-sex marriage.
It provides that anyone found guilty of this law can face a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
