Police re-activate joint security operation codenamed “Operation Sweep FCT”

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has re-activated the joint security operation codenamed “Operation Sweep FCT.”

Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

SP Adeh said the operation was officially re-activated on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, with strong backing and strategic direction from His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, whose unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all residents continues to enhance inter-agency collaboration and operational effectiveness across the Territory.

“Before deployment, the Heads of Security Agencies in the FCT addressed participating personnel at the Eagle Square, underscoring the renewed mandate for proactive, intelligence-led, and highly visible security operations.

“Operation Sweep FCT is designed to deter criminal activities, strengthen visibility policing, and ensure swift, coordinated responses to emerging security threats. The joint operation consists of:

1. Nigeria Police Force (FCT Command)

2.The Military (Army)

3.Nigerian Air Force
4. Nigerian Navy

5. Department of State Services (DSS)

6. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

7.Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

8.Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)

9.Federal Fire Service

10.National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)

11. Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO)

12. Development Control

13.Environmental Enforcement and Monitoring Teams

14.Other supporting security, emergency, and regulatory agencies

“To ensure effective coverage, the Territory has been divided into strategic sectors, enabling rapid deployment, enhanced patrols, and a robust multi-agency security presence across all districts and communities”, she sad.
