Police Rolls Out Aerial Surveillance to Secure Osun Governorship Election

Nigeria Police Force has stepped up security measures ahead of the Osun governorship election with the deployment of its Airwing and Drone Unit for aerial surveillance and strategic reconnaissance operations across the state.

The deployment is aimed at enhancing election security by providing real-time intelligence and improving coordination with officers on the ground to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, disclosed the development in a statement posted on the Nigeria Police Force’s official communication platform on Saturday.

According to the statement, “In a continued commitment to safeguarding the electoral process, the Nigeria Police Force Airwing & Drone Unit has deployed for AERIAL SURVEILLANCE & STRATEGIC RECONNAISSANCE PATROLS across Osun State.”

The police spokesperson explained that the operation will enable security personnel to monitor activities from the air while supporting officers deployed to strategic locations across the state.

He added, “Advanced aerial assets are now providing real-time situational awareness to ground forces, ensuring rapid response and comprehensive security coverage.”

The Force also appealed to residents, political stakeholders and voters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the election.

Emphasising that the success of the electoral process depends on collective responsibility, Iniedu stated: “A peaceful election is a shared responsibility. Let Osun decide, safely.”
