Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a 30-day suspension by the Portuguese Football Federation after leaving Portugal’s national team camp without permission.

The 41-year-old forward was also fined €255 over the incident during the September international break.

The punishment followed a disagreement with coach Jorge Jesus after Ronaldo remained on the bench in Portugal’s 2-1 win over Norway.

Ronaldo left the team’s camp in Copenhagen before Portugal’s Nations League match against Denmark.

He later accepted responsibility for his actions and admitted that no player is above the team’s rules.

The suspension is expected to end on October 30, making him available for Portugal’s November international matches.Portugal will play Denmark on November 14 before facing Wales three days later, with Ronaldo likely to return if selected.

The incident has also raised questions about Ronaldo’s relationship with coach Jorge Jesus and his future role as Portugal’s captain.
