Trabzonspor have pulled off one of the biggest transfer coups of the summer after securing Mohamed Salah on a free transfer, with the Egyptian forward signing a two year contract following his departure from Liverpool.
The Turkish club confirmed the agreement on Tuesday, ending weeks of speculation over Salah’s future after he became a free agent at the end of his Liverpool contract.
Salah leaves Anfield as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history. During his eight seasons with the club, he scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, winning two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
The move marks the start of a new chapter for the 34 year old, whose remarkable spell at Liverpool transformed him into one of the most feared forwards of his generation.
Despite attracting interest from several clubs across Europe and the Middle East, Trabzonspor won the race for his signature, landing one of the most high profile free agents on the market.
Salah is expected to lead Trabzonspor’s charge for domestic honours and make a significant impact in Europe as the Turkish side looks to strengthen its status on the continental stage.
