Sen. Natasha decries abduction of CUSTECH students, wants improved security

Sen.Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has condemned the attack and abduction of students by gunmen at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Adavi local government area of Kogi.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, said this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

She said the information released by the university, indicated that the ugly incident occurred at 8:23 pm on May 9, when gunmen attacked the university, abducted an unspecified number of students, who were studying for their first-semester examinations.

The senator called for an improved security, describing the attack as “unfortunate and unacceptable”.

She said that the innocent students should not be subjected to such a heinous act.

Akpoti-Uduaghan said that learning environments must be protected from such attacks and urged security agencies to ensure the safe release of the students and bring the perpetrators to justice.

She offered her support and assistance to ensure the students’ safe return and emphasised the need for measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
