Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has appealed to the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to reconsider plans to file criminal charges against former Senate President Bukola Saraki and others over the 2018 Offa Robbery incident.
Sani made the appeal in a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, where he cautioned against the use of political power in pursuing legal actions that could deepen political tensions.
According to him, the decision to initiate criminal proceedings against Saraki and other individuals should be reconsidered in the interest of fairness and political stability.
“I wish to appeal to the Governor of Kwara State my Friend and Brother, His Excellency Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq to drop the idea of filling a Criminal Charge against Senator Bukola Saraki and others over the 2018 Offa Robbery Incident,” Sani wrote.
Drawing from personal experience, the former senator noted that he had previously faced multiple legal battles which he described as politically motivated.
“In the past, I had the experience of being framed and dragged to 5 different High Courts in Kaduna, and slammed with Civil and Criminal Charges, and The Lord saved me,” he added.
Sani further emphasized that those in positions of authority must exercise restraint when wielding power, warning that political circumstances can change quickly.
“Power should be exercised with caution. Tomorrow is not far from today,” he cautioned.
