Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day ceremony held at the National Arcade, Abuja, as the nation paid tribute to its fallen military heroes.
The solemn ceremony brought together top government officials, military leaders and dignitaries to honour members of the Armed Forces who paid the supreme price in defence of Nigeria’s unity, sovereignty and peace.
Among those in attendance were the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio; the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu; ministers of government, service chiefs and other senior officials.
The annual Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day serves as a moment of national reflection, recognising the courage, resilience and sacrifices of Nigerian soldiers who laid down their lives in active service to the country.
The ceremony underscored the Federal Government’s continued commitment to honouring the memory of fallen heroes while reaffirming support for serving personnel of the Armed Forces who continue to safeguard the nation.
