Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the arrest and reported treatment of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), is part of what he described as an official cover-up rather than a genuine effort to uncover the truth.
Sowore made the allegation in a post published on his verified X account on Tuesday, where he questioned the handling of the case by authorities and called for the investigation of President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Describing the development as the “BIGGEsT COVER UP EVER!”, Sowore wrote:
“The arrest and reported dehumanization of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of a ‘fake agency,’ points to what appears to be an official cover-up rather than a genuine search for truth.”
He argued that if security agencies were genuinely interested in establishing the facts surrounding the controversy, the investigation should extend beyond Adeyemi.
“By now, President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, @femigbaja should also be under arrest and investigation if the authorities are truly committed to uncovering the facts.”
Sowore further alleged that key evidence linked to the controversy had either disappeared or been destroyed.
“So far, the individual alleged to have collected the ₦400million bribe on @femigbaja behalf has reportedly died under mysterious circumstances, while the hotel allegedly used for the exchange has since been demolished.”
He concluded by accusing the Federal Government of frustrating the course of justice.
“In addition to the real crimes, we are now witnessing obstruction of justice by the @officialABAT criminal regime.”
