Tinubu celebrates Minister Alake @70

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a loyal ally, accomplished journalist and outstanding public servant whose contributions have continued to shape Nigeria’s development.

In a statement released on Monday to mark Alake’s birthday, the President celebrated the minister’s decades of service, saying he had remained dependable, courageous and committed to the nation.

Tinubu said: “In my several decades of very close relationship with Dele Alake, I have known him as a steady hand, a forthright, upright, loyal, and committed ally. He is straight and unequivocal. You always know where he stands on issues.”

The President congratulated Alake, his family, friends and associates on the milestone, adding: “On the occasion of his 70th birthday on October 6, I rejoice with him, his immediate family, friends, and associates. I celebrate with him for the grace of joining the Club of Septuagenarians.”

Tinubu praised the minister’s record in journalism and public service, noting that Alake built a reputation for hard work, excellence and a strong commitment to justice and fairness throughout his career.

The President recalled that Alake distinguished himself as a frontline journalist and editor who used his profession to challenge injustice and defend democracy during Nigeria’s years of military rule.

He also commended Alake’s eight years as Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, where he said the minister transformed government communication and political strategy.

Tinubu further applauded Alake’s performance as Minister of Solid Minerals Development, saying his reforms had earned both local and international recognition, including his emergence as Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG).

The President said: “In unfamiliar and uncharted territories, Dele has an inexhaustible capacity to function and deliver results effectively. It is no wonder that his work as Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals continues to draw local and global admiration, earning the trust of his colleagues across the continent as the Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG).”

Offering prayers for the celebrant, Tinubu said: “On his 70th birthday celebration, my prayer for Dele is that the Almighty grant him more years in good health as he continues his service to God, country, and humanity in general. Happy birthday and many happy returns to my confidante, brother, and buddy.”
