President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a heartfelt message of condolence to renowned Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and her family following the death of her son, Nkanu Nnamdi.
In an emotional statement, the President expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, extending his sympathies to Ms Adichie, her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, and members of their family.
“With a deep sense of grief, I condole with Ms Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, and the entire family on the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi,” President Tinubu said.
Drawing from his personal experience, the President acknowledged the profound pain associated with losing a child, describing it as an immeasurable tragedy.
“As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child,” he stated.
President Tinubu said he shares in the family’s pain and stands in solidarity with them during the difficult period.
“I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them,” he added.
The President also paid tribute to Chimamanda Adichie’s global impact as a literary figure, noting that her works have inspired and uplifted people across the world.
“Ms Adichie is a literary icon who has brought joy and light to many homes globally, and I pray she and her family find strength in the Almighty in this trying hour,” Tinubu said.
He concluded the message by assuring the family of his prayers and support, saying, “My prayers are with the family.”
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is widely celebrated for her contributions to literature and storytelling, with her works earning international acclaim and shaping conversations on culture, identity, and humanity.
