President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mr Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, on his birthday today, January 1.
President Tinubu in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said Ododo, one of the youngest governors in Nigeria today, is an accountant-turned politician.
He had served as the auditor-general for local governments in Kogi State before he was elected governor in 2023.
President Tinubu commended the governor for his people-centred policies and programmes and encourages him to deepen the reach of his initiatives.
The President joins the people and the government of Kogi in celebrating the governor and wishing him a happy birthday and a prosperous New Year.

I mourn the passing of my distinguished colleague, Senator Godiya Akwashiki (Nasarawa North), who died in an Indian hospital on Wednesday.
Born in Angba Iggah, Nasarawa Eggon LGA, Nasarawa State, Senator Akwashiki, who was first elected to the Senate in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, passed away at the age of 52.
He demonstrated a high sense of patriotism and commitment to the Nigerian project through his various contributions in and outside the Senate.
Senator Akwashiki was a parliamentarian par excellence who worked diligently to enhance the standard of living of the people in the Nasarawa North Senatorial District and beyond.
My thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family, the entire people of Nasarawa North Senatorial District and Nasarawa State in general. May God grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
