Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Darma, has stated that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is making housing more accessible to Nigerians, as 129 completed housing units were handed over to beneficiaries at the Nasarawa Technology Village, Karu, Nasarawa State, today.
The houses were funded by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and developed by Modern Shelter Systems and Services Limited under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement with the Nasarawa State Government.
“The Renewed Hope Housing Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu places housing at the heart of improving the lives of Nigerians. Today, we are handing over keys to 129 Nigerian families. I want to assure Nigerians that more houses will be delivered by December 2026,” the Minister stated.
Darma reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to provide 100,000 houses to Nigerians before the end of the President’s first tenure, saying that the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), and the Ministry will continue to deliver on their mandates towards meeting the target.
The Minister congratulated the beneficiaries for their patience and endurance, assuring that the remaining 122 beneficiaries would receive their keys by December 2026, bringing the total number of housing units to 251 for beneficiaries who were unable to get their allocations at the Brains and Hammers Bungalow City, which was subsequently allocated to Nigerian military personnel.
Darma expressed delight over the words of praise and appreciation from the beneficiaries, saying, “It is a motivation for us to continue to deliver.”
In his address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Shehu Usman Osidi, commended the leadership of the Honourable Minister, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, for his efforts towards making the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a reality.
Osidi also praised the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, for being a pace-setter in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda, noting that he was the first Governor to allocate land to the Federal Government and personally came to Abuja to present the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for the land to the Ministry.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event were full of praise for the government for making them homeowners and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, for helping them realise their dreams of owning homes.
The successful delivery of the 129 housing units further demonstrates the Federal Government’s resolve to deepen access to affordable housing and ensure that more Nigerian families become homeowners under the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic handover of keys to the beneficiaries by the Honourable Minister.
