President Bola Tinubu is set to travel to Kano today to pay his respects to the Kano State Government and the family of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, the esteemed businessman and philanthropist who passed away at 94.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, shared the news via a post on his X handle on Thursday. “President Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Kano to condole with the Kano State Government and the family of Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on June 28,” Onanuga wrote.
Dantata, a towering figure in Nigerian business and philanthropy, died on June 28 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He was laid to rest on July 1 beside his wife’s grave at the Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madina, Saudi Arabia.
Although President Tinubu was abroad during Dantata’s passing, he ensured the late icon was honored. “President Tinubu was out of the country at the time of Dantata’s passing but directed some of his ministers, led by the Defence Minister, to attend the burial in Saudi Arabia as a mark of honour for the late nonagenarian,” Onanuga noted.
The President’s visit to Kano reflects his commitment to commemorating Dantata’s remarkable legacy and offering condolences to his family and the Kano community.
