Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recovered ₦37 million suspected to be linked to terrorist financing, following a series of coordinated operations targeting insurgent supply and funding networks in the North-East.
In a press statement, Lt Col Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of OPHK, said the operations reflect the military’s ongoing strategy to deny terrorists freedom of movement while systematically dismantling their logistical and financial support structures.
“Troops of the Joint Task Force have sustained the operational momentum generated from recent defensive engagements in Pulka and Madara-Girau, transitioning into deliberate logistics strangulation operations aimed at crippling terrorist sustainment networks across the theatre,” Lt Col Uba stated.
He added that: “On 16 February 2026, troops of Sector 1, working alongside vigilante forces, executed a night ambush along a known terrorist crossing route frequently used by ISWAP elements moving from Cameroon into Nigeria.
According to Lt Col Uba, the insurgents “ran into effective enfilade fire and were forced to withdraw in disarray,” unaware of the concealed tactical deployment.
Subsequent searches of the area led to the recovery of a significant cache of logistics supplies believed to be intended for terrorist resupply operations, further crippling their operational capabilities in the region.
In a related development, troops at the Forward Operating Base Chabbal Checkpoint intercepted a suspicious vehicle carrying five occupants.
A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of approximately ₦37 million, hidden in bags, along with multiple mobile phones suspected to be linked to terrorist financing and coordination activities.
Lt Col Uba described the seizure as a “significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle financial conduits suspected to support terrorist logistics and operational activities within the theatre.”
The statement emphasized that these coordinated operations demonstrate OPHK’s proactive approach to simultaneously targeting physical movement corridors and financial enablers.
“The sustained pressure across key transit routes and support networks reflects a deliberate approach to weaken terrorist elements from within and limit their capacity to regenerate combat power,” Lt Col Uba added.
The Military High Command also commended the vigilance, professionalism, and resilience of the troops and collaborating security agencies, noting that their morale and efficiency remain high.
Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mandate to frustrate terrorist ambitions and restore lasting peace and economic stability across the North-East region.
