Troops prevent kidnap, save 2 travellers in Zamfara

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued two travellers during a bandit attack along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Zamfara State.

The Nigerian Army said the incident occurred on September 4, 2026, while troops deployed in Anka Local Government Area were conducting a routine patrol.

According to the Army, the soldiers spotted armed bandits attacking two people travelling on a motorcycle and immediately moved in to confront the criminals.

The swift response forced the bandits to abandon their victims and flee into the surrounding bush before the troops could engage them.

The two travellers were rescued unharmed and taken to safety by the soldiers.

The Army said the timely intervention prevented what could have become another successful abduction along the road.

Following the rescue, troops intensified patrols and security operations in the area to deter further attacks and reassure motorists and other road users.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against bandits and other criminal elements threatening peace and security across Zamfara State.
