“We are solidly behind Turaki-led PDP NWC” – State Chairmen.  

State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have unanimously expressed their support for the National Working Committee (NWC), led by its National Chairman, Dr Tanimu Turaki, SAN.
 
During an interactive meeting held on Wednesday, December 10, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Center, Abuja, the chairmen stated their collective resolve to ensuring stability, unity, and success for the party under the current leadership.
 
Speaking on behalf of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the chairman of the PDP State Chairmen’s Forum and Chairman of the Edo State Chapter, Dr Tony Aziegbemi, noted that the NWC, under Turaki’s guidance, had demonstrated exceptional commitment to internal democracy and party rebuilding.
 
“We are here today to send a clear message: We are solidly behind Tanimu Turaki-led PDP NWC,” declared Dr Aziegbemi.
 
He added that, “We acknowledge the challenges, but more importantly, we see the unwavering dedication of the NWC to upholding the party’s constitution and preparing us for future electoral victories.”
 
Highlighting that the party needed cohesion more than ever before, , the chairmen condemned any action or rhetoric aimed at destabilising the PDP, stressing that unity remains essential for the party to play its critical role as a viable opposition and credible alternative for Nigerians.

They commended the NWC’s efforts in initiating programmes aimed at strengthening the party structure at all  levels, and ensuring that all internal processes, including congresses, align with the constitution of the party.
 
The state chairmen urged all PDP stakeholders to set aside individual differences and rally behind the NWC, to enable it focus on the essential task of preparing for the next electoral cycle.
 
“Our focus must remain on the Nigerian people. The PDP is a democratic institution, and we must allow the constituted organs, especially the National Working Committee members to perform their duties without undue pressure,” Dr Aziegbemi added.
 
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge of loyalty and support, by the State Chairmen, who reaffirmed their commitment to forging partnership with the NWC towards ensuring greater height for the PDP.
 
A total of 27 out of the 36 and FCT state chairmen of the Party were present at the interactive meeting.
