Mavin Records boss, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has revealed why he is still afraid of marriage despite his success and fame.
Speaking on HabbyFX’s YouTube show, the 42-year-old producer said his fear stems from failed relationships, social media scandals, and financial risks tied to divorce.
Don Jazzy, who was married in 2003 but divorced two years later, explained that love can be beautiful yet risky. “My parents were madly in love before my mom died, and that makes me believe in love.
But when you see messy breakups online, it gives fear,” he said. He noted that financial worries also make men cautious. “A man can lose half of everything he has worked for if there’s no prenup.
That scares me because what I have is for my generation,” he added. Don Jazzy admitted he has dated but is currently single. “Na fear, though God’s time is the best. I just want the right person, but I’m not sure I’m the right person for somebody’s daughter,” he said.
Reflecting on his growth, he added, “Am I disciplined enough to be with one person? I’m still working on myself and praying to be better. I was a menace when I was young, but I’m wiser now.”
The producer described himself as mostly indoors, delegating duties to his team. “I’m always inside — house, office, or studio — and my people handle things unless they need my guidance,” he said.
He praised artists like Johnny Drille, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, 2Face, D’banj, and Olamide for shaping Nigerian music and said his inspiration comes from everyday sounds. On faith, Don Jazzy said, “I believe in God, but I’ve become sceptical about churches with how things are now.”
His honesty and humility have drawn admiration from fans who continue to praise his openness about love, fear, and faith.
