Why we postponed caucus, BoT, NEC meetings – PDP

PDP

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of its key leadership meetings earlier scheduled to take place this week, citing ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the party said the decision affects the meetings of the National Caucus, the Board of Trustees (BoT), and the National Executive Committee (NEC).

According to the notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Toafeek Arapaja, the postponement followed deliberations by the Board of Trustees aimed at promoting unity and resolving internal differences within the party.

The statement reads:

“In furtherance of the decision of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, @OfficialPDPNig in pursuit of reconciliation within the party, we announce the postponement of the meetings of the National Caucus, Board of Trustees, and National Executive Committee of our party earlier scheduled for this week until further notice.”

The party noted that the move is intended to demonstrate its commitment to a reconciliation process currently being encouraged through the courts.

“This decision is to demonstrate utmost good faith in the court-advised reconciliation process.”

While a new date for the meetings has not yet been announced, the PDP leadership appealed to members for understanding over the sudden change in schedule.

> “We apologise for any inconvenience this postponement may cause.”

The meetings of the National Caucus, BoT and NEC are among the party’s highest decision-making gatherings and often serve as platforms for addressing major policy and internal political matters within the opposition party.

The notice was dated March 11, 2026.
