National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared the party united and repositioned for a strong political comeback ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the party’s 107th NEC meeting held in Abuja on Monday, where members deliberated on key organisational and electoral matters.
In the communiqué, NEC expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the party’s congresses at various levels nationwide, describing the process as orderly and credible.
“NEC expressed profound satisfaction with the successful conduct of the Ward, Local Government Area (LGA), State, and Zonal Congresses across the country and ratified the reports of the party Congresses.”
The committee also praised party leaders, electoral committees, and members for their commitment to due process.
“NEC Commended Party leaders, electoral committees, stakeholders, and members for their commitment, discipline, and adherence to due process, which ensured peaceful, transparent, and credible exercises nationwide.”
E-Registration, Zoning Framework Reaffirmed
On membership mobilisation, NEC reviewed the ongoing electronic registration exercise and urged wider participation among party faithful.
“NEC reaffirmed its commitment to a comprehensive, credible, and technology-driven membership database, and urged all members across the federation to actively participate in the exercise.”
The committee also reaffirmed the party’s zoning arrangement for national elective positions, noting that it remains a guiding principle for inclusiveness and balance.
“NEC affirmed the zoning formula for National Elective Positions as adopted, in line with the Party’s long-standing principles of equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and national balance.”
PDP Convention on Track
The NEC confirmed that preparations for the party’s national convention are on course, with the sale of nomination forms already underway.
“NEC noted that the sale of nomination forms for the forthcoming National Convention has commenced. All interested aspirants are advised to comply with the approved guidelines and timelines as issued by the Party.”
It further directed all relevant organs of the party to ensure a smooth and credible convention process.
“NEC reaffirmed the Party’s readiness for the forthcoming National Convention and directed all relevant organs and committees to ensure seamless coordination for a successful, credible, and transparent exercise.”
The theme of the convention, according to the communiqué, is: “A Convention of inclusiveness, unity and renewal.”
Call for Unity, Discipline Among Members
Reiterating the supremacy of the party, NEC urged members to remain united and committed to collective goals.
“NEC reiterated the supremacy of the Party and called on all members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the collective interest of the PDP.”

PDP Signals Confidence Ahead of 2027
In its concluding remarks, the Wike-backed NEC expressed optimism about the party’s future, assuring Nigerians of its readiness to provide leadership.
“NEC expressed confidence in the renewed strength, unity, and organizational capacity of the Party and assured members and Nigerians of PDP’s readiness to provide purposeful leadership and national direction.”
The communiqué was jointly signed by the Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, and the Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.
