Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused opposition politicians of misleading Nigerians about President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office.
Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike said political rivalry should not stop people from acknowledging the president’s achievements
He argued that Tinubu deserved credit for what he described as positive developments under his administration.
The minister said the Rainbow Coalition was formed partly to counter what he called unfair criticism of the government.
Wike maintained that opposition parties should not reject every action of the government simply because they want to win elections.
He said politics should not be treated as a do-or-die affair and urged leaders to separate fair criticism from deliberate attacks.
According to him, some opposition figures have also admitted that Tinubu has recorded achievements despite belonging to different political parties.
Wike said such support should not be seen as a betrayal of opposition politics but as recognition of good governance.
He defended the Rainbow Coalition, saying it allows people from different political parties to work together for Tinubu’s re-election.
The minister added that the coalition respects political differences while pursuing a common electoral goal ahead of the 2027 elections.
He urged Nigerians to judge the Tinubu administration based on its record rather than partisan claims by political opponents.
Wike also called on Nigerians to carefully examine the track records of politicians seeking elective office and demand accountability from them.
