A member of the National Assembly, Sen. Diket Plang (APC-Plateau), has commended the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for repositioning the territory.
Plang, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity, said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.
He said that the minister had put the FCT on the map of best federal capitals across the world.
The senator particularly thanked the minister for his unwavering commitment to project implementation in different sectors within the FCT, saying that this was indicative of his knack for efficiency and exemplary leadership.
“The minister is walking his talk by ensuring timely execution of projects within the federal capital and this is highly commendable,” he said.
According to Plang, who is representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the senate, Wike is fulfilling his promise to transform FCT into one of the world’s best capitals.
He said that his initiatives had largely brought succour to FCT natives who had, over time, crying out over marginalisation, adding that the initiatives were further creating job opportunities for the teeming youth.
The lawmaker said that the minister had also demonstrated that government was a continuum by completing some of the abandoned projects across the federal capital.
He said that the various projects, including road infrastructure, transportation and healthcare, among others, had brought life back to the federal capital.
Plang listed some of the projects to include: the full-scale development of about 6.7-kilometre 10-lane outer southern expressway from the Villa Roundabout to Ring Road 1 junction.
Others, according to him, are the construction of Southern Parkway from the Christian Centre to Ring Road 1, named after President Bola Tinubu, B6 (Constitution Avenue)/B12 (Independence Avenue) roads in Central Area and Wuye interchange bridge.
Plang, also Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, equally described the completion of engineering infrastructure, Guzape District Lot II and resurfacing of 189 roads covering 57km within the city centre as a major milestone.
The lawmaker, who described Wike as a “workaholic minister”, said his commitment to duty was a testament to Tinubu resolve to deploy the best hands toward delivering his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said that history would remember Wike as one of the best FCT ministers. (NAN)
