You must hold this place with the best of your ability”, Force Commander MNJTF charges troops, commissions FOB Duji

Force Commander(FC) Multinational Joint Task Force, Major General ST Audu has charged troops deployed at Forward Operating Base( FOB) DUJI to escalate operations against terrorists operating in the Nigeria-Niger borders and also ensure that they hold their ground.

General Audu made the call on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, during the operationalization ceremony of FOB DUJI.

Details of the ceremony was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations HQ Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF Monguno, Lieutenant Ayodeji Abiodun .

In his remark, he stated that the operationalization of the FOB was key and important to deny the enemy freedom of action between the Nigeria- Niger borders within Mobbar Local Government Area, which would also facilitate in reopening the Damasak- Maiduguri Road.

While noting the several successes recorded, the FC further charged the soldiers to be resolute, resilient, fearless and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.

He implored the soldiers to brace up for the tasks ahead urging them to constantly conduct robust patrols to crush the enemy in the hinterlands.

Stressing the need for a mutual relationship between the Forest guards, Nigerian and Nigerien troops as a Force multiplier in the operation, he assured the troops of improved welfare and logistical support to back their efforts.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commander Sector 3 Operation HADINKAI (OPHK) & MNJTF, Major General Suleiman Tilawan averred that the establishment of FOB DUJI was the beginning of good things to come.

He noted that the operationalization of the FOB was history making because there had been no military presence in the area for a long time.

The Sector Commander further appreciated the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum for the logistics supports which led to the realization of the project. He also thanked all the invitees for gracing the event.

FOB DUJI was established in August 2025. The establishment of the FOB enabled Sector 3 to maintain an active presence along the Nigeria-Niger borders, which will assist in reopening the Damasak-Duji-Diffa Road and the resettlement of Nigerian refugees from Diffa in Niger Republic. Since its establishment, the FOB has been conducting combat operations in conjunction with Nigerien troops at Diffa, aimed at restoring peace and stability in the area.

The event had in attendance the Chairman Mobbar Local Government Area, Hon M Gas, Commander Operation NALEWA DOLE Diffa region, General De Brigade Ali Hamidou Issa, Brigadier General SS Ahmed, senior officers from the MNJTF amongst others.
