Yusuf, Dangote, Kwankwaso honour late Dankabo at prayer

The third-day prayer for the late Sarkin Gabas and District Head of Kabo, Idris Dankabo, was held on Sunday in Kano.

The prayer, led by Malam Umar Ali and other Islamic scholars, took place at the residence of the deceased’s grand father, late Alhaji Adamu Dankabo.

The session, attended by thousands of sympathisers, featured recitations from the Holy Qur’an for the repose of the soul of the deceased, his late father and mother.

Dignitaries at the prayer included the former Minister of Justice, Mr Bello Adoke; Gov. Abba Kablr Yusuf of Kano State; his Deputy, Aminu Gwarzo; and the Special Assistant on Media to President Bola Tinubu, Abdul’Aziz Abdul’Aziz.

Others were the former Gov. of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso; business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; and former Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Rurum.

The 48-year-old traditional ruler died on Thursday night in a motor accident in Kano metropolis.

His funeral prayer, led by Emir Muhammadu Sunusi II, was conducted at the emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, on Friday with a large crowd in attendance.

The late Dankabo was the eldest son of the late Alhaji Adamu Dankabo, Jarma of Kano and founder of the defunct Kabo Air Limited.

The Dankabo family is widely regarded as one of Kano’s most influential, with the late patriarch remembered for his roles in business, politics and philanthropy.

Kabo Air, established in 1980, once operated domestic, regional and international flights before scaling down operations in the 2000s to focus on charter and Hajj services.

Late Idris Dankabo’s position as Sarkin Gabas was among the senior titles in the Kano Emirate hierarchy, with cultural and administrative responsibilities.

His death at a relatively young age is expected to leave a vacuum in the emirate’s traditional leadership structure.(NAN)
