Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara, has extended his congratulations to the renowned journalist, Babajide Otitoju, on his appointment as Director of News at Television Continental (@tvcnewsng) News.
In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum hailed Mr Otitoju’s appointment as “a proud moment for both the profession and the Nigerian media landscape.”
The Governor praised the journalist’s “exceptional professionalism, unwavering integrity, and decades-long commitment to ethical and impactful journalism”.
“This appointment is a testament to years of consistent hard work, editorial excellence, and leadership within the media industry,” adding that it “further underscores the growing credibility and influence of Television Continental”.
Governor Zulum praised his professional zeal, “observing that Babajide’s commitment to investigative journalism had brought him to Borno State repeatedly to cover government’s post insurgency recovery efforts”.
The Governor expressed confidence that “His wealth of experience and editorial depth will further strengthen quality journalism, promote accountability, and deepen public trust in the media”.
The appointment not only honours individual merit, but reinforces the critical role of the media in shaping informed public discourse through programmes such as ‘Journalists Hangout’ and strengthening democracy”.
