Zulum’s STA, Bundi, wins National Spokesperson Award

Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, Senior Technical Assistant (STA) on Print and Digital Communications to Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has won the Digital Communication category of the prestigious 2026 National Spokesperson Awards (NSAwards).

Mr. Bundi received news of the award, via a letter dated 13th July, while working on the editorial and production of Governor Zulum’s signature publication, “The 7th Verdict”.

Mr. Bundi clinched the victory after a rigorous selection process in what organisers described as one of the most competitive editions since instituting the award.

The Award received 171 nominations. After an initial eligibility screening, 91 entries met the required standards, clarity of objectives, demonstrable impact, and verifiable evidence such as news reports and other publications, digital footprints and visibility of publicity. These were further subjected to a second-stage intensive evaluation, which produced 42 finalists across 16 categories.

The seven-member jury panel, chaired by Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, assessed all shortlisted entries using four core criteria: Impact, Innovation and Originality, Reach, and Quality of Evidence.

UNILORIN TV was the closest contender in the Digital Communication category won by Bundi.

The NSAwards, organised by Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), a multi-award-winning communications and publishing firm and publisher of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, and Spokespersons Digest, is Nigeria’s premier platform for celebrating excellence in public communication, roles of spokespersons, and strategic media engagement across various sectors.

The 2026 Edition featured 16 categories on Professional Excellence and Individual Distinction Awards.

Bundi, who was appointed STA on Print and Digital Communications by Governor Zulum in January 2025, previously received awards on behalf of the Governor’s Media Team, including at the 2023 Spokespersons’ Communication Awards (SCA2023).

Before his appointment as STA, Bundi served as Special Assistant on New Media from 2019 to 2023 and Senior Special Assistant on New Media from 2023 to 2025.
