The commission said the false publication did not originate from INEC and urged Nigerians to ignore it.
The fake announcement mentioned Zamfara, Gombe, Delta, Plateau, Yobe and Kano states.
INEC stressed that it had not issued any special announcement on governorship candidates in those states.
The commission advised Nigerians to rely only on information published through its official website and verified social media platforms.
It warned that sharing unverified election-related information could mislead voters and create unnecessary confusion.
INEC also encouraged members of the public to use its official contact channels to verify any electoral information.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate information and urged Nigerians to disregard the fake publication and always confirm election updates through its official platforms.
