APC debunks division over Osun Governorship ticket

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun on Thursday in Osogbo debunked alleged crisis within the party ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.

The party urged members to discountenance fabricated stories by faceless groups where it was alleged that there was a crisis within the party in respect of the 2026 governorship election candidature.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, he described the stories as the handiwork of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

He stated that the PDP had become jittery in recent times because of the rising profile of the APC in Osun.

He added that the APC would not have dignified PDP handlers with a response, but it was sufficient to state that the two stories were mere propaganda by the PDP.

“Those behind the hatchet job have failed woefully in their mission to cause disaffection and rancour within the APC in Osun,’’ he stressed.

Reacting to APC’s allegation, Mr Sunday Bisi, PDP’s chairman in Osun stated that his party should not be dragged into the crisis within the APC.

He enjoined the APC to face its divided house and not drag the PDP into its reported battle over the governorship ticket.

“The public is aware of the battle within the APC; it is none of our business in Osun PDP. We know there is no vacancy at the Osun Government House, come 2026,’’ he added.

A story has been circulating in the social media by a group in the APC opposed to the aspiration of the immediate past governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, for the party’s 2026 governorship ticket.

The group, according the story, supports either Sen. Ajibola Basiru, APC’s National Secretary or Mr Lekan Badmus, Executive Director of Marine Operations at the Nigerian Port Authority to run for the governorship election
