APC disowns purported senatorial candidates list in circulation

All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as fake a purported list of its senatorial candidates currently being circulated on social media and some online platforms, urging party members and the public to disregard the publication.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, said the attention of the APC had been drawn to a document titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far” making the rounds online.

According to the party, the list did not originate from any official APC organ and should not be regarded as authentic.

“The APC wishes to state that the said list is FAKE, and did not emanate from the Party,” the statement said.

The ruling party cautioned members, stakeholders, media organisations and the general public against relying on the publication, stressing that it should be disregarded in its entirety.

The APC further clarified that only its National Working Committee (NWC), acting through officially recognised communication channels, has the authority to announce candidates emerging from party primaries and other constitutionally approved processes.

“The Party reiterates that only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, acting through its duly authorized channels of communication, is empowered to announce the list of candidates emerging from its primary elections and other constitutionally prescribed processes,” Morka stated.

The party also appealed to its members and supporters to avoid spreading unverified information capable of creating confusion or undermining its internal democratic processes.

“We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” the statement added.

The APC maintained that official information concerning its candidates and electoral activities would always be communicated through its authorised platforms.
