Deadly cult clash claims 3 lives in Osun

Three persons have reportedly been killed in a suspected cult clash involving members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternity in the Imo area of Ilesa, Osun State.

The Spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi said the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Monday.

The Police said four expended cartridges and two Android mobile phones were recovered from the scene, while preliminary investigations have commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings and identify those responsible.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the 2026 Osun Governorship Election, Samuel Etaifo has directed the immediate deployment of the Violence Crime Response Unit and other tactical operatives to the area to prevent further escalation and possible reprisal attacks.

The Command has intensified patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led operations in Ilesa and adjoining areas, while warning suspected cult members and other criminal elements against further violence.
