The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured members and party faithful of free and fair primary election ahead of the September 2024 governorship poll in the state.
The chapter’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Vasco Ogie, stated on Saturday that the party was committed to internal democracy where there were no sacred cows.
“While we await the guidelines from the National Working Committee, we assure all our party faithful that we shall conduct a free and fair process to pick a candidate in February 2024.
“The guidelines will be strictly adhered to in nominating the candidate; we call on all aspirants to take note of the timelines of activities,” he stated.
Ogie added that the party would produce a candidate acceptable to all of Edo electorate for resounding victory at the polls.
He urged all aspirants to be on the lookout for any act of imposition of candidate from any quarters.
He stressed that any such attempt would be fully resisted and put down, irrespective of powers behind it.
