Victor Osimhen may have ended up on the losing side, but his kind gesture after the match stole the spotlight.
Barcelona defeated Galatasaray 4-1 in their UEFA Champions League clash at Rams Park on Tuesday night.
Galatasaray took an early lead through Batrakov before Barcelona fought back strongly.
João Cancelo equalised for the visitors before Fermín López, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi scored in the second half.
Osimhen endured a frustrating evening against Barcelona’s high defensive line.
The Nigerian striker had a first-half goal ruled out for offside.
He was also caught offside six times during the match.
Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal was one of the standout performers on the night.
The teenage winger provided two assists and troubled the Galatasaray defence throughout the game.
After the final whistle, however, Osimhen produced a moment that quickly went viral on social media.
A video shared by 433 on Instagram captured the heartwarming scene.
Osimhen spotted Yamal walking through the tunnel and called him back.
He gently held the Barcelona star by the arm and led him to a waiting Nigerian journalist.
The journalist was identified as Calister Ojonugwa Enejele, popularly known as Cali Sports.
She is a Nigerian sports journalist who covers FIFA, CAF and football content.
Cali had hoped to take a photograph with Yamal after the match.
Instead of leaving the task to someone else, Osimhen collected her phone and personally took the picture.
The photo showed Yamal giving a thumbs-up while Cali smiled beside him.
Sharing the picture on her X account, Cali wrote, “Help to thank Victor Osimhen oooo. Photo credit: Victor Osimhen.”
Although Barcelona celebrated a convincing victory, it was Osimhen’s thoughtful act that became one of the most talked-about moments after the match.
