Ireti Kingibe, Tambuwal, Abaribe Among 9 Senators Who Defect to ADC

Senator Ireti Kingibe

A fresh wave of political realignment swept through Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber on Thursday as nine senators formally defected from their respective parties to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The lawmakers, who previously belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), announced their defection during proceedings at the Nigerian Senate chamber of the National Assembly of Nigeria.

The development marks one of the most notable shifts in the composition of the Senate in recent months, as the lawmakers cited political alignment and strategic considerations as reasons for their move to the ADC.
