Jonathan Set for PDP Presidential Ticket Ratification at Abuja Convention

Former President Goodluck Jonathan

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to hold a Special National Convention for the ratification of the nomination of former President as the party’s presidential candidate.

According to a statement issued by the party, the convention is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, in Abuja.

The event will be held at the “A” Class Event Centre, Kassim Ibrahim Way, Wuse 2, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The notice of the convention was jointly signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, and the National Organising Secretary, Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan.

The statement read:

“Invitation to the SPECIAL NATIONAL CONVENTION for the Ratification of the Nomination of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR as the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”

The planned convention is expected to attract party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, supporters, and political observers from across the country as the opposition party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s President from 2010 to 2015, remains one of the most prominent political figures within the PDP and continues to command significant support within sections of the party and across the country.

Political analysts say the development signals the PDP’s determination to reposition itself ahead of the next presidential contest as political realignments continue to shape the national landscape
