The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed a private aircraft incident near Asaba, Delta State, on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.
NCAA Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, who confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the aircraft missed its approach at about 07:43 local time and landed on a roadway in Ogwashi-Uku, near Asaba.
Achimugu said all four crew members exited safely with no injuries reported.
According to him, preliminary findings show the aircraft later departed the site at approximately 11:02 GMT for Lagos without regulatory approval. Air Traffic Control was notified only after takeoff.
“This unauthorized departure violates the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) and is under NCAA investigation.
“On arrival in Lagos, the NCAA grounded the aircraft. The crew are under regulatory review as the Authority investigates both the emergency landing and unauthorized departure.
“The NCAA has notified the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and is coordinating with the operator and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency.
“Meanwhile, the operator’s Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF) has been suspended pending review of all operational and maintenance records.
The NCAA reaffirmed its commitment to safety, security, and regulatory compliance in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
