Police rescue abducted lecturer in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police command, has arrested 200 level student of Federal University of Lafia, Daniel Favour Chukwuebuka, with one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, four (4) live ammunition and charms.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nansel Ranham, Anipr, said Daniel Favour Chukwuebuka, ‘m’ 25yrs, is of the Department of Social Works, Federal University of Lafia.

DSP Ranham, said acting on credible information, the criminal was arrested on 28/12/2023 by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

“On 28/12/2023 acting based on credible information, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested one Daniel Favour Chukwuebuka ‘m’ 25yrs, a 200 Level student of the Department of Social Works, Federal University of Lafia. A search warrant was executed at his residence where one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, four (4) live ammunition, and Criminal Charms/Herbs were recovered as exhibit” the statement said.

In the meantime, a lecturer with the Department of Micro Biology, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Isaac Igbawua, who was kidnapped, has been rescued by the Police, with 24 hours.

“On 27/12/2023 at about 0415hrs, information was received that unidentified armed men invaded the residence of one Isaac Igbawua, a lecturer attached to the Department of Micro Biology, Nasarawa State University, Keffi. The lecturer who resides at Old Barracks, Kokona LGA, was whisked to an unknown destination”

“Reacting to the unpleasant development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada psc,mni ordered an intensive manhunt for the abductors.
The search paid off on 28/12/2023 at about 1630hrs when information was received that some strange people wearing face mask were sighted in the forest at Ogba village, Nasarawa Eggon and the police in collaboration with vigilante group mobilized to the scene”

“On sighting the operatives, the hoodlums opened fire but were gallantly repelled; they took to flight, and the victim was rescued unhurt and reunited with his family after undergoing medical examination at Police Clinic, Lafia”

“The Commissioner of Police has commended the officers for a job well done and urged members of the public to always feed the police with adequate information in order to rid the state of criminals and assure them of utmost confidentiality” the statement said.
