Shettima Tells APC Group: Defend Tinubu’s Reforms With Facts, Results

VP Kashim Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged supporters of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to defend the government’s reforms with facts, transparency and evidence of results.

Shettima spoke on Saturday in Abuja during the inauguration of the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) campaign office and structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The Vice President said growing support for Tinubu in the North should not be seen as a blank cheque, but a responsibility to deliver more for Nigerians.

He said the government must continue to explain how its policies are improving security, creating opportunities and strengthening the economy.

Shettima noted that Nigerians have faced difficult economic conditions but stressed that the administration must honestly address their concerns.

He warned campaigners against ignoring the struggles of traders, unemployed graduates and families dealing with rising living costs.

According to him, every government policy affects real people through issues such as food, school fees and job opportunities.

The Vice President said criticism remains important in a democracy and urged the administration to listen to different opinions.

He added that the A4A structure should serve as a bridge between communities and government by ensuring citizens’ concerns reach those in authority.

Shettima said the Tinubu administration’s priorities remain security, economic growth, poverty reduction, education and stronger public institutions.

Meanwhile, APC leaders, including National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, called on the North to support Tinubu’s re-election based on the administration’s achievements.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and former Jigawa Governor Abubakar Badaru also expressed support for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket, saying the A4A campaign would take the message of continuity across northern Nigeria.
