Troops Kill Lakurawa Fighters, Destroy Terrorist Hideout in Sokoto Forest

Nigerian troops have raided a Lakurawa terrorist hideout in Waria Forest, Sokoto State, killing some fighters and recovering weapons during a clearance operation.

The operation was carried out on Wednesday by troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in Tangaza Local Government Area.

The troops moved through Alela, Bilange and Kandam villages before advancing into Waria Forest, where they engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle.

The military overpowered the fighters, forcing them to abandon their camp and flee deeper into the forest.

Some of the fleeing terrorists were neutralised during the pursuit, while the troops destroyed the hideout and other structures used by the group.

The operation also led to the recovery of weapons and five motorcycles belonging to the terrorists.

The military said troops have continued clearance operations in the area to stop the fleeing fighters from regrouping.
